So, looking through Tudor Roses again...

The first day of sunshine in spring. It is wonderful, and my heart sings. I left my cotton summer knit (picture) in the sailboat (yes, now the mast is on, and the sails!) and I'm just thinking about what in the Roses knitalong I should knit. Is that not just the best thing? Planning for a knit.
So, I decided that I would go for a good Finish 2-stranded wool yarn (Piirtin Villalanka) with some tweed- feel - in brown. (Hello finish people, give me the full story about this yarn!) So, the big discussion is, what is the contrast colour? One good thing is that it has a large size (which of course is not true of the ones I really would love to do). But hey, I can change a pattern...Secondly, If it is a knitalong, I should at least go for more than one (that is how I usually cheat myself into doing one. I would really love to do one of the fairisle patterns but in shetland yarn. I do not have shetland yarn. So Catherine Parr? Good start. So I have choosen brown (Syksy = Autumn = that is when it is going to be ready ;-) (not like the original). Need a second colour ..."gold" so what colour is really "gold"? bronze? I have yellow, and 4 shades of orange, but no bronze...So,I'm really looking through my stash, and of course I have GOLD - I mean REAL GOLD coloured yarn. Its from Jaeger. and it is so fabulus and soft, cashmina or something. Hmm.. Or should I really chase another wool yarn? Those hunts are the best. To get the colours "just right". I think the gold will be a bit bleak to the brown, so maybe lighter, like beige? or should I be bold and do RED? or does brown and turquoise work? Hmm. The last one sounds interesting. Secondly, these are knitted back and forth? I really like changing the pattern to the circular, so, I have to check if it fits. (some patterns actually is better back and forth).. So. Wish me luck! Anyway! Tudor friends, here is my wishlist and rating of the patterns in the book. (where I alread have decided for Catherine Parr! -Sweater with both a two-colour pattern,and an Aran part.)

1. Henry VIII is colourwise the one! Will probably fit me too.
2. Anne Boleyn Is great - but will not fit. so, there is a problem..
3. Mary Tudor is also ok in colour, but I would alter it slightly, the problem here is, too small
4. Kataherin of Aragon (great name ;-) is also a good fairisle,but but again, sould alter the colours somewhat.
5. Then the Katherine Howard Jacket/Cardigan is just fantastic. Wrong size of course, and wrong colours, I would do bule with lime and light blue braids.
6. Anne of Cleves fits, But color..Hmm. A great Aran! Seems like a lot of yarn! but here Size is great. This one is very useful!
7. Elisabeth I is a great summersweater in white, beautiful, and probably a fast knit, but, Again too small, and then is narrow waiste does not work for me. So, this is something to ponder about.
8. Jane Seamour is nice, but I would really like to understand what original yarn that is. It just looks like two different qualities. and the colours should be more constrast.
9. Margret Tudor has buttons that just look odd, but the Aran is probably ok, as well as the henry VII and the Elizabeth of York. But, they are not to very high up.

Conclusion, the 1-8 is knittable, and all but nuber 1 and 6 needs pattern altering. All fair-ilse should have specially bought yarn. So, they will not get knit until I can visit the Shetland Island on my own. (Probably very many years in the future!) Sigh... But Catherine Parr, I hope you are interesting.

Need of a knitalong ;-) Tudor Roses!

Im a looser in the Latvian mitten knitalong. But hey, it was fun, and I'm struggling with the next mitten. Anyhow, I was bored (it actually was fast doing my taxes), and I feel like a knitalong - so i joined this one what a great idea. I will thought that I should get into the stash and find some yarn, maybe also join the STASHsaving knitalong...called stashalong ;-) well. Also thought about the Tubey.. but I guess I will go for a project that will keep me busy in the summer. If you find a UFO/WIP-along for me, comment here.Too busy to start and one myself. If you have any yarnshopping hints for VALENCIA in SPAIN please tell me, what is yarn in spanish? I will go there for a few days.

Mayday May day!

I have had this hanks for years. They were my first spun yarn, that I did. So, it is fat and uneven. Of course I just had to play with the colours. But, now I got an idea. Make all the homespun into one cardigan. Buttoned. The greenish bottom, with some purple in the top, is the right front. And the blueish grey is the left front part. Just pick up and assemble. I like this yarn. Thíck uneven and so fat. I will also have to add the sides, sleeves, and a back, and of course button brim. More spinning. Blogger is slow today, which means you will have more pictures during the week. But, the one part starting with blue is already upto the back neck. So, now, I need to spin more thick yarn. I remember I was told, once you have learned how to spin thin, it is hard to spin thick again, and I have done superthin in my brown shetland fleece. Mayday, May day is that I need more grey (light and dark) but mostly it refer to catastrophic fantasies, we were about to sail allday, bu - we did not sail our boat into summer harbour - too windy , almost storm (kuling!).Also mayday is really about TAXES: last nite now. Still have not started. Panic is creeping up. But the garden got a few hours before collapsing (to much hard work this 3day weekend). An office rat like me is not use to fresh air. I think when you dread doing something,I do something else. Like gardening or knitting. At least I'm excellent in finding good excuses. Are you?

Patterns and colour, homspun knitting

My favourite colours changes during life. When I was small I was blue, but I loved small flowers patterns. Liberty if you know. Then, I was in love with red. Dark blood red. The reason was, my little welsh mountain pony was black, so red was great. Then, I moved to yellow and brown in the beginning of the seventies. My room had a seagrass brown wallpaper, and all my lamps and my favourite chair was dark yellow, tiger yellow.
My second pony was a fux, so his light brown was great to yellow. Then, growing out of my english winner pony, my next size pony was welsh arab, a schimmel (grey?), and by then I reused my yellow. Now favourite colour was blue. So, my teenage years was blue blue blue. I learned about Klein blue, and dove blue, and sea blue. Then I was blurring around in different colours, fashion victim.
Settled down for Lime about 10 years ago. Any green, but best was the first spring green. Wow, how that (lime) sneaked into fashion. Just when I was giving up, it was everywhere. I have more yarn in lime than any other color. Then, I allowed my self to become purple, lilac, like the settling sun on dark coulds. Not to much red in the blue. Blueish purple.
So, that was a long comment on accent.Now I'm into turquoise. Trying to not fall too hard. So, I have no black yarn. (You know that most black yarn is overcoloured for a colouring gone bad), You can feel that in the quality of black yarn. So I have white (great to dye yourself!), and lime, and purple. And (behold a range of orange - fall is beautiful!)... Anyway, the mast is on the boat. and, polyester sounds good. I took the picture Wanja's designed sweater at Grebbestad, Knitting symposium. So, I knitted up my first homespun. Its so fat, it was like knitting gue (sv. klet!) But, confirming: Grey and white, with some purple blue and green tints. Haha! Already a favourite! Need to find more yarn to spin with in grey. And quick. Time for visiting Gudruns Ullbod again! PS! All naturals are always great. Btw. Purple sweater is not mine. It is Anne-Maj Lings Two-endedfab fabfabsweater.

American Idol, sailboat, work -Knitting???

American IdolFan:Chris! Then, Taylor, Then Eliott. Sorry girls, Paris if fab, but I cannot stand the "kidvoice" when she does not sing. McPhee...well, mommys girl (shoot, Im just jealous! I wish I looked like her!) Then, the sailboat is in the water. No mast is on, we totally collapsed after getting my paper in (deadline last nite) and getting up this morning at 5... So, Knitting? back and forth in the CAR to the boat. It is not warm yet, and I realize, it is still too cold for cotton knits. Drag out the winter knits again. A sock, another mitten?Hmm, I'm going to knit HOT sweaters for the sea. My hubby suggested to do fender protectors (hmmm) They sure would be unique. But, I do have some acrylic fuzzy things. That would catch the peoples attention ;-) So, more knitting.. am I loosing my fans? What happends to my knitting? Its there, its peace, tranquillity. Soothing, supporting, comforting, creative. Snuggly cosy yarn.
One stich, another one. Tickety tick. Bloggety blog. No! Hmm, the Wanja Danajeff pattern just hit me. Great sweater for the sea. Look at it. Its GREAT. Its so good, it is just enough tricky to knit. What yarn, hifa? or my Mojärv collection? Colors? hmmm. This really is knitting - dreaming. Black- and white is supposed to be in. And some accent? She is a hot one. Go Wanja!

Intresting meetings,and more confessions

So dearest Britt is a gem (Britt på nätet)! She is also a great Architect, (like my dad was), in the way, she is honest and straight forward, something I apprechiate. So, she took a look at my hub, and I was so enchanted, I totally forgot my manners (no offerings of coffe, snack or anything, which is a must - FIKA if you are a good hostess). Well, this is an example of me not functioning. So, Im totally last in the mitten competition.. (Revoting going on, my mitten tried to escape (feeling ashamed) and did not want to be on the picture. So it is a new vote ongoing. see link below).Also, Mrs Murphy knits too (Heard about Murphys law? Anything that can go wrong will...!) it is a mantra for testers like me. Anyway, since computer bugs is both my friends and my favorit focus for years, they also listned to my inner quantum physics, and decided, that I do have too much yarn. So voting for me is just ego. But, no one can fool great knitting ladies. It is true, I have from this learn that using too small needles compared to the yarn, does make it uneven in a way that cannot be fixed by blocking. It shows. Of course, it adds to the home-made knit, but take's away appearances. So.Live and learn.Thank you anyway for cheering me on. Maybe Dipsy Doodle from Oz, share my colour sense, because I have lived in Melbourne (first off Lygon St, then Nth Balwyn) for a while... Does the sun changes the feel for colours? Yepp. I'm sure of it. More sun - more strong colours. Less sun, mild colours. Finally, this is a swatch of Gotland patterns with a lacy feel, that I did into a glove. Well, that has my name on it (not in picture!). So, I guess I just have to go to Shetland and by my own yarn. THAT could be a trip. Well, you have no idea what is up for me. First Valencia, then Vienna, and then Shanghai. Of course - suggestions of yarnshops can always come in handy, yeah, right, - I DONT NEED MORE YARN ha!)

Vote for the best mitten!

So, friends of Garngamen! Give me your vote on my traditional latvian mitten ;-) Traditional (the rules) meant follow pattern, but you could use any colour scheme you wanted! One mitten is the only requirement. Here is the link to the KAL (the prize is - I hope - some shetland yarn from Jamisons!) Otherwise, my weekend has been about cleaning the sailingboat. Mostly laying double and trying to get some - dirt away from the plastic...My back hurts. Had my knitting (now it is a the cotton summer sweater! - sleeves...) with me.. so some rows it has been. And Actually, I winded up some balls from my recycled silk (handpainted grass-green), that I started up on a circular needle... To be honest, that last knit is in my "yarnroom", just before going to bed. Almost a "bedknit". It is cold in there, so it cools me off before going to bed. They say it slows down the system, and makes one sleepy.. but today. I will stumble to bed. Take care!

Televinken - my childhood idol

This is a picture that I begged my brother to paint for me. Everyone that was a kid in the 60s in Sweden, and heard Televinken and Anita, wow, My brother actually kept a recording when he was playing in the flourbag... and her stern voice "but what have you done"... I also found some on the Swedish TV: But do I wish to see and hear him again. A cd of all Televinken. All my knits are fighting me. One way or the other. So, blogging.. It is so much taxes, research papers due, sailboat and garden clean-up... But, tomorrow is better. I finished a quicky project, a scarf, but, Im not happy. So, rip it or add on? Add on!

So, How do you buy your yarn?

I got to think about that at the latest knitting caf'e' and who are you?

1. 1. I just go for colour - has to be exact - and then I think about what yarn it is and what to use it for
2. Quality first, I check out the yarn, and then I try to find my favourite colour, then I try to figure out what to use it for
3. 3. I see something in a magasin or what someone else have done, and think that I can do that in this yarn and colour instead
4. A plan ahead, buy one ball or two, and swatch it first - It is so expensive so I must be certain
5. I always know what I want to do, then I go for yarn hunting
6. Hey, just fondle and caress the yarn, if the prize is right, I buy it.. Ohh, yeah I will figure something out...
7. Magazines, that is the answer to my yarn buy
8. Internet. Found Jeanettes yarn on ebay, and a lot of nice prices... But also, I can find yarn noone else has (those picures suck you in)
9. A listen to my friends and see what they recommend
10. I'm on the lookout for new yarn, I do not want to have yarn everyone else has.
11. I just stroll, and listen to what the yarn-shop owner recommend.
12. Choice? Why not buy it all! I'm too fat anyway..

FBK the best! More Latvian mitten discussion

OK, another fuzzy Latvian mitten picture! (I take about 10 to get one ok picture!) Thanks for the comments! Anyway, Visjö, from Östergötlands Ullspinneri is best knitted on needles 3mm-3.5, this is 2mm (I wanted them tight to honour the latvian knitting). Actually the typical frill-brim (hmm my english) was the hardest (=timeconsuming) to knit. Then it was straight forward. A bit dissappointed with the turquoise between the yellows, that should have a bit stringer contrast.
Otherwise, not until I reached the thumb, I suddenly saw the front -page of the book, understood that this was the pattern I was knitting - and realizing, that the pattern was "wrong". But I try to make it a bit "swedish" witht the colours. Well, now I really MUST go to Östergötland and find the yarn, so I can do the second mitten. Otherwise I will do it the "american style", have unmatched mittens. I'm not too sure I like it. Yarn-chasing goes first (Hey, it is a SPORT!) Now I always will have a reason to visit them! Forgot to tell that the Swedish Icehockey championships goes to my favorite team - FBK! 4-1 one period still to go.. Looks GREAT!

Easter sweater done? and the first Latvian Mitten

My Visjö Latvian mitten. I'm ok. A bit tired, still.
All apple-trees (6 of them) are pruned. Some plants in the ground (but the bought dirt was still frozen!) The boat is uncovered, and the sprayhood on. The stress is back on again. Whatever happened to Easter? I think it went in a blink. But finally spring at least passed. Easter ending with rain!
But good food and good wine - and lots of time to knit! The problem is, I have not found this colour (the backdrop blue) yet. It is Östergötlands Ullspinneri. So on the right is my Easter sweater. Great It is in Italian yarn Lana Grossa, Pep Print. Started last easter. And has been an ufo until now.
I still have a ball, so I'm thinking, should I make it longer? The sleeves longer? Or knit a hood? or a shawl-collar? I have not decided. It might be done!!

Owls, and rhymes

A fuzzy Amaryllis in bloom, does not capture the relief of spring. Sorry, I doubt I will finish my Latvian mitten nr 2. I thought I was doing it on the night shift (boat-guard!). But I heard owls. And me and my dear hubby, woke up our sailboat from the winter slumber. It was cold, but not freezing. I really got tired, couldn't knit. So at 5 this morning, when the morning light showed us, it is going towards summer, we headed home. So, I came late to the stich and bitch meeting at Maria's yarn shop. Filled as always with "everyone". Great knits ongoing. Sun shining outside. And I just sat and "drueled" over the arcun... unpronouncable south american wool yarn in the turquoise, blue tint that is just so fresh. No, I had a steady though on my yarn room. And yet, being awake with my dear husband - finally really having time, walking around the very dead boat parking (all on land!) in total silence (except the owls) and our flashlights, It was weird. All were at their easter mode, I was just there. Coming home to the warm and loving husband, sitting down (quickly fixing of dinner), I saw an easter egg. I the easter egg whys a rhyme. He comes from a tradition of hiding eggs, but quickly confessed that the eggs were sold out at the store. So, his rhyme went like this. "The easter bunnhy has laid four eggs). The first, you find easy, the second is "knivigare" (more tricky, but kniv also means knife). Before you find the third, you will have gone on the wrong thread (ok, my trnslation of "vara på ett stickspår") that has the same meaning. The forth is well hidden. You might even think it is hard to digest. (so, digest in swedish is "svårsmält") had I just translated this into english, I would have found it so much sooner. So, One was in my egg (picture below). Figured that one out quickly. I went directly to my UFO pile and found DUMLE ;-) hidden in the enterlac.. and the knife-box took me a while, since I made dinner, I was sure I picked something up there, but, I remember suddenly that my hubby gave me the knife.. Hmm.. The last one is hidden in our metallic digestice cracker-box. That one took me all nite, I though about digastion, bathroom or something. Well, Happy easter (ps. Finished my easter sweater.. picture tomorrow IN THE LIGHT!)

Easter, finally...

So, here is my easter egg collection (yes, I have done them all myself years ago). Stoneware... Anyhow, I have really worked so hard, and I just feel time to relax. Now Easter is complentation. Get my self back on the agenda, do my Latvian mitten, finish my sweater (1 dm left on last sleeve!) then just the collar. Now the collar is really deeply cut (have not felt sexy lately), but somehow I want to hide behind a lot of stiches.
So, time for self. The problem right now is Im so tired I have no idea what to do. Would be great to fix the yarn room - and the garden clean up. And the sail-boat. And visit the knitting-cafe. And buy the latest Vouge Knitting (have not got a respons if they ever got my subscription). Well the latest Interweave Spinning is great. Maybe I will just spend my time turning the wheel. That would be great! I will sure get the camera out! So,this is a picture of what was long called my "bedroom knitting", since I really attempted to lie down in bed and knit. It is Noro Shinano with plain wool, and - behold, This is my attempt to knit the sleeves first, And I'm NOT happy with them. But I have great plans for knitting the whole thing sideways, with white insets to make it bigger in the right places. Well good nite! Three Scrubs, and one ER, only 2 Sex in the city, perfect knitting companions.

Mumin, yarn.. rambling on..

Mumin is a Finish classic childstory That captures the spirit of everyone, best psychological stuff about life. Anyway, my friend had these mugs, and when strolling around on the airport I just couldn't resist these. In grey is Stinky (stealing bottles) in the way I'm steeling yarn (No! I never steal, but sneak like Gollum, pressious!). Up left you see the reseacher (in me ;-) what a projection! and of course, little My just has fun. So, the stash is this wonderful fat unwashed finish spun lovelys. And the green one is the Himalaya silk (reclaimed!).
So, Enterlac is back on shelf. I have a complex problem to solve, there and I'm in the Latvian Mitten KAL, deadline very soon.. So, not to spoil the fun, have a look at my competing mittens BACKSIDE ;-) still looks great! So, I will work hard to see if I can fix my second (different) mitten on time. That will be challenging.

But, I'm walking nightwatch on my boatclub on Friday, so it will be a whole night to knit and check on boat-owner. Anyway, the problem is that I had planned to knit my EASTER sweater. I have done one sleeve yesterday (much knitting, little blogging)... and there is just one sleeve left (and a collar) and I will look hot with the chickens and eggs! But easter is all about garden, and choclates so this will be a weird Easter. Pruning apple trees in APRIL that is late. Well, now it is time for some more knitting.

Friends, Borgå and brother

So, I went to Helsinki to my dear friend. Anyway, we ended up in Haga-something Saluhall (Market). First I got recycled silk "himalayan Oy", just one hank.(hmmm) , in the beautiful little yarnshop, filled with acrylics "One linie", but some german handpainted wool as well. Then, passing to old sock salesperson, from the corner of my eye I saw, upp behind on a shelf - a basket of yarn with a finnish sign. My friend translated, "unwashed, finish spun wool". What a catch! It was really fat white, light brown and dark brown wool 2 and three threads (I got two) or 6 Euro each (approx 54 SEK) per 100 g. It was heavy! The lady just got it from "middle" Finland. Well, that was it. Then we went to her place in Borgå, what a place.

...and in darkness bind them

So, I tried to get stash overview picture from my YARN ROOM! but that is not an easy task! It just very clearly explains the mess that is going on. So, to the right this is my bag that I'm doing in RYA yarn (which is really coarse weaving yarn for carpets) Is it the long coarse hair from the sheep? It is done in Märta-Stina Abrahamsdotters inspired style, which means you always have two yarns and you weave every stich in (bind it), as well as colourful patterns. (no, it is not Two-end knitting this is more fair-isle, but having the yarn you nit on the long finger, and the one you do not knit on the pointy finger, and the you grab the yarn alternatively over and under the other yarn).. Aslo, here one could se a lime shawl starting (debbie Bliss alpaca silke, and Noro Aurora (the green glitter part from no 1). Vauge in the back you might see two almost finished sleeves in beige - Noro (Shinano?)
So, now moving to "the room" which has a table in the middle! Total mess. I might just confess, that is not ok. There are all my sample yarns, since a dwell on the knitting magazine in Sticka in my yarn explorations. An expensive hobby, but hey, better excuse I have never had to at least treat me with one ball of all weird yarn, every time I browse the LYS. So my last picture maybe capture the essense. I have 15 boxes filled, and then bags and bags hanging around. Of course, I do plan to buy shelfs, put in glass for moth protection, and just have everything like big painting. A "at home yarnshop". So,curious of the content? Well
the two bags on to contains, looped mohair in light blue (one of my options for border in circular cardi, that I was not happy about) Now I have 200 g light blue/turquoise and 200g lime. 400g is not enough to make a sweater. So, the other bag is the finish yarn from Svalan "Syksy" in brown. Planned to be a cabled sweater (hmm... much aran in the planning here!) but I do have great books. Hidden behind is a bag with a started Jaeger merino Wool and unfortunately from my superwash days. It feels so dark. Probably going to be changed into a gent's sweater. Probably going to be moved to the knitting machine. So, sorry for the dark ages. But good is that you can click on any of my pictures and get an enlargement. So, now it will be silence until sunday from me. Going to my dear friend in Helsinki. I cannot wait. We have planned this for months! The real deal. Hopefully it will be a long shopping saturday, but you never know! We might just snuggle in front of the fire. I doubt she knits. I will. All the way there and back!

Camera bad Stash flash

So, I start easy! Afraid this is going to be a long series. And my camera is not cooperating at all. With flash it is black (even if it was daylight). Weird. So I took my dear Hopechest (done in Rörås in Norway, also - a place for great yarn I'm told! both the chest and Rörås...) But when I starting to look at the yarn! First - The Wåhlstedt wonderful yarn of great wool beautiful handcolored. It is the best and truest Swedish wool - since the origin was the persons how started to preserve the Swedish sheep for wool (when it was all about meat). Likey,Likey (as Carrie would say!)
The plan for this yarn is probably an aran styled larger sweater with a shawl collar, pockets and that can be wrapped around... (and of course mitten, cap, socks and whatever with the rest!)
Long for sure! Cabels Cabels Cabels.
The hope chest is also the stash for some of my Bohus knitting. So it is Green Meadow pattern, sweater, mitten and cap. And Blue shimmer, (2 sweaters), And the new Grey Mist (with a green-greyish backdrop). All from Solsilke in the wonderful merino- angora (50/50). (Best quality Makes me go mad!). Anyway, on this black picture (enlarge it!) up left is a knitted wool patterns (swans and hearts?) (Farmer wool yarn from Konsum, 1970 something) that is supposed to be grey with purple pattern. But Size is for a 10 year old! Happily I discovered scissors. So my plan is that this will be the front of a great patterned sweater (or back?). You can also see the Norweigan Alfa 100% wool from Sandnes. It is all shades of grey from black to light grey. And to make some spiff I bought 4 turqoise balls from Britt to add it up. No idea what to make, but sure going to work the little dots of colour into that grey... I always start with sweater thoughts.
Found this Colinette handcoloured yarn- totally frogged sweater. Thinking of domino-squares (since the pieces are short!) Typical "sail-boat" project. Takes forever, (just to sort the yarn) summer-sweater. Enough of dark pictures: The rest which in short was: Twinny yarn (black, grey lime and some other for a newspaper sweater),and a big bag of collected chenille yarn bought on sale) and finally the 70 handspun angora in bad colours from Hemslöjden in Uppsala. I ignored the eyelash yarn from germany (fox something) and found a bag of mixed samples.. Later friend later...More to come!
After the stress culminates - I realize I have new deadlines! Got my weekend picture on a frozen first flower. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Im truely amazed of the world! It is getting smaller. Spring.. Ahha finally spring...

Fashionable or not?

Well, my new found NY-fab blog-friend claimed she is not exactly fashionable and gave me this great link of what REALLY is fashionable.. ! So now it is for true! I'm not. My scary age- - oopps, I'm already moving into 45 years ! but I hang out with students in their 20s mix....of enjoying the latest Harry Potter (just bought the DVD) that my husband and my workfriends totally "dissar "(swedish slang for reject) but moves my student pals to a discussion of how great Douglas Adams - "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" (remember the knit scene?) is...well confusing. So, how do I transend from being the management power lady (which at work undoubtly means Jacket! or suit!) to being a non-threatening "one of the gang" in a "not too expensive sweater" -hood? I'm just so out of fashion! I look trendier 25 years ago (check my schoolphoto - here!). Timeless! Purlneckless! ha. I still got the same leather boots. Had them on yesterday. So, what do one KNIT? A replica of Marvin? Well I am a fan of the hitch-hiker! Thinking about knitting the Mag-knits T-shirt with a big 42 on the belly! Will be great for my PhD! The answer of it all ;-) Secondly, I stare at this beautiful knit magazine, and the "latest trend" which is black with white and I saw some very few other colours. Having just finished skogsmörkret (bohus) in black, - it is HARD to knit black. White is great! and White looks great for patterns. Hmmm. All white yarn I have is BOUGHT is to be used FOR Dyeing. Hmmm.. So now I remember my white Cashmere yarn I bought in Dusseldorf - since I didnt like the colours they had..Project, Knitting project...But honestly I see my self very colourful. Working up energy for ORANGE and RED for this fall. Doing my automleaf sweater... or should I wait??
Like my brothers picture up there. So this is fashion from within - or do we create it? Do we follow others? Artists lead! Knitters are artists, hence what we knit is fashion (at least for us!). But fur brims? Well... hmmm that I need to ponder. This is my Raku-fired tea-pt I made some years ago...A tea, and doing some knitting is great for contemplating! No, I stick to my favorites, and I'm challenging, the lime, green, blue, purple,with more orange, pink and red..... but first, some real natural colours. Not fashionable - But happy! The birds are finally starting to celebrate spring!

My face is red! Dear hpnyknits linked me up - a fashionable NY lady! Wow, it just feels that NY came here! And I do not have to watch Sex in the City! Yarn from the city! And Scrubs... There is a fantastic song called "Aunt Fantasy's travel" - if you can't go - BLOG!
So, I just have to flash my stash... (That is a challenge will come in the next few days!)...because her's were AMAZING! Pictures pictures... like candy for the blogger... Don't I have any in my store (hmm again. NOT MY KNITTING! but it was ALLOWED to take pictures without a flash! sorry Tartu!)

Another week - working stress and new yarn

Wow, the pressure of a deadline! My mentor at University told me he is off to Oz for 3 weeks (and my paper has a deadline before), so suddenly my deadline became monday! At the same time, my class I'm attending has its deadline on monday with a seminar in the afternoon. On Wednesday my Valencia speech should be done, and on Tuesday I will me my new (?) manager and might get moved into a new area of work. What can I say. Between stress and hysteria, I do some knitting, so my enterlach has now one sleeve. It came out very neat! But the other sleeve is really in a rot. It just doen't fit. Tricky, very tricky. Needs a clear mind, and that is not what I have - I need an easy knitting right now. No "solve the Escher" squares. So, dearest hubby said, lets do a walk in town yesterday, and we parked near Maria's garn. She was lovely as always, and we discussed the nitty gritty of Baylan and colouring in the micro. Of course I fondled the new Cotton yarn, admired Åke (the sheep in the window), and admire her Hanne Falkenberg sweater.... But my eye caught the recycled silk yarn, something I already have a hank from (in green), but somehow it does not do it for me. Cannot see a sweater in front of my eyes. So, with a impatient hubby we went to check if the Vougue Knitting has arrived (missed to pay the renewal). But it hasn't hit the stores yet. But found 3 other knitting magasins, so, not so bad. A nice shrug.. well, so we headed in the sunshine to Gamla stan. And so easy to sneak up to dear Ann Richter and her yarn store. So, I thought, another Noro Aurora (to finish my second shawl). Then I saw the new Noro Cotton Polyester mix. Feels like paper-cotton. Weird. but in a good colourscale, lime with red, pink. Ok, it was a trial! After some chatting on how to get to their summerhouse with our boat, my eye caught one of her wonderful coloured silk in that alive lime, that I just could not resist, and I thought it was best to leave before I totally flipped out. Anyway, she had stashed up on Colinette, which was interesting.

Well, back to the busy busy.. After wednesday. Knitting, pictures and breathing. Next weekend I'm going to my friend in Helsinki, so I hope there is some time to browse yarn - no, I do not need any more, but just look (ha!)!
